Sunflower Town

Turn your face to the sun and the shadows follow behind you. ~ Maori Proverb

Easter of 2013 saw us at Emerald’s Sunflower Festival. It’s a week long festival that started in 1977 with competitions, exhibitions, shows and horse racing culminating in a parade on Easter Saturday and a Rodeo that evening. There was a great turn out for the parade, with a brilliant community atmosphere. There is also some ‘Sunflower Queen’ swapping with Emerald’s sister city Altona, Manitoba (also famous for it’s Sunflowers). As usual, click on the images for a larger version. Hope you enjoy.
